Action movies can be a very fun way to learn Spanish since there isn’t a lot of dialogue you need to focus on. Some of the best action movies have great Spanish dubs, which can help you hone your Spanish skills while watching your favorite hero mow down an army of unnamed goons.
Since I started learning Spanish to communicate in a better way with my Latino wife, I’ve been watching a lot of movies in their Spanish dubs.
While watching action movies dubbed in Spanish, a fast and reliable internet has been crucial for me. The John Wick series has set a very high bar for action movies, to the point where I find myself comparing other movies to John Wick to see if they are actually good. Currently, there are four movies in the series, with the fourth one wrapping up the story in a way that feels like a satisfying payoff.
John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, is a retired assassin who has recently lost his wife. Before passing away, she leaves him a puppy as a last gift from her. In an unfortunate turn of events, John is attacked by thugs who steal his prized car and kill the puppy. John sets out on a revenge quest to seek vengeance and the mob boss sets a bounty on his head.
The sequels in this movie series are set up brilliantly and the fight sequences are something you need to watch if you’re a fan of thriller action movies.
Fast & Furious

Although the Fast & Furious movies don’t have an exactly great reputation right now, there are still a lot of great action movies in the series. Currently, there are around 11 movies in the series, with some being spin-offs.
The series starts with Dominic Torreto, played by Vin Diesel, who meets Brian, played by Paul Walker, under his wing. Dominic is a rock star in the street racing scene and his sister, Mia, starts falling for Brian. The only problem is that they don’t know that Paul is an undercover cop investigating them in a case that involves money laundering and hijacking.
I don’t recommend watching the movie series in the order they were released. Instead, watch them in chronological order.
The Matrix

The Matrix is a movie franchise that almost everyone has at least heard of, even if they haven’t watched it. And for good reason. It’s one of the most captivating and ambitious movies made, especially for a film that was released in 1999.
The movie is about Neo, played by Keanu Reeves, who’s looking for a mysterious figure called Morpheus. Morpheus is the only one who seemingly knows about the true reality. Neo’s journey as a hacker takes a turn when he meets Trinity, who leads him to Morpheus, and he learns that the world he lives in is just an illusion.
Although the first three movies are a great watch, the fourth movie, The Matrix Resurrections which released after a very long gap, didn’t receive a lot of positive reviews and felt more like a parody, rather than a true sequel.
The Dark Knight Trilogy

Although there have been multiple Batman movie series in the last few decades, The Dark Knight trilogy by Christopher Nolan stands out as one of the best adaptations of the Batman series.
The story follows Batman, played by Christian Bale, along with allies like Lt. Jim Gordon, Lucius Fox, and DA Harvey Dent, trying to keep a tight lid on the crime happening around in Gotham City. But things go bad when the classic villains from the comics like Joker, Bane, Scarecrow, and Ra’s al Ghul show up.
The movies have a lot of twists and turns. The Dark Knight has brilliant performances by the cast, especially The Joker, played by Heath Ledger. If you’re a fan of superhero movies, you’re going to have a great time watching The Dark Knight movies.
The Raid

- Cast: Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian, Cecep Arif Rahman, Joe Taslim, Julie Estelle
Technically, I wouldn’t call this movie a series but the two movies in The Raid franchise are insanely fun to watch.
The movie is about an elite team of commandos that are deployed into a drug lord’s apartment in the slums. Things go wrong when they are ambushed by the criminals and forced to fight for survival in the complex. The second movie is a continuation of the story but you don’t need to watch both movies in order.
Both movies are great action movie gems waiting to be found. The action is chaotic and keeps the blood pumping.
